The FACTS: Clearing the Record

SHERIFF MILLS HAS A PROVEN RECORD OF DOING MORE WITH LESS AND PUTTING TAXPAYERS FIRST!

WHY DARRELL MILLS WANTS TO BE SHERIFF:

I believe the Floyd County Sheriff should strive every day to give back to the community he or she serves. I have been concerned over the direction current leadership has led our department and I feel called to return. I promise to work as hard as I can to restore the highest level of service that our citizens deserve. I’m committed to BETTER SERVICE and LESS SPENDING! I will work every day to make our community the safest place to live and raise our children and grandchildren while remaining fiscally responsible.

Floyd County citizens deserve a Sheriff who is responsible with tax revenue without wasteful spending and inflated budgets. Since I’ve left office, the budget for the department has grown by over 130-percent. This is not sustainable!

One of the major problems facing our community is the lack of a long-term inpatient rehabilitation facility for those struggling with addiction. BIGGER JAILS are a SHORT-TERM SOLUTION and throwing money at the problem isn’t the answer. We need a joint task force made up of a diverse group of community members and agencies to combat the opioid epidemic and those that suffer from addiction.
